Easy Homeopathic Allergy Remedy

Homeopathics can be used for allergies. Homeopathic medicine works by stimulating the immune system to fight off invaders.

Some common homeopathics for allergies are:

Allium cepa: Indications for this remedy include watery eyes and a clear nasal discharge that irritates the upper lip, along with sneezing and a tickling cough. The person usually is thirsty, and feels worse indoors and when rooms are warm, and better in fresh air.

Arsenicum album: A burning, watery, runny nose with a stuffy, tickling feeling during allergy attacks suggests a need for this remedy. Swelling below the eyes and a wheezy cough are common.

Euphrasia: This remedy can be helpful if the eyes are swollen and irritated with acrid tears or pus. The nose also runs, but with a blander discharge. Symptoms are often worse in the daytime and worse from warmth, and the eyes may hurt from too much light.

Ferrum phosphoricum: This is a very useful remedy in the early stages of any inflammation. Taken when allergy symptoms start, it often slows or stops an episode. Symptoms include runny eyes with a burning or gritty feeling, facial flushing, watery nose, and short, hard, tickling cough.

Gelsemium: A tired, droopy feeling during allergies with a flushed and heavy-feeling face suggest a need for this remedy. A sensation of dryness or of swollen membranes may be felt inside the nose-or the nose may run with irritating watery discharge, with the person sneezing frequently.

You may also find homeopathic remedy combinations for allergies. You will find the bottle has something listed on it about allergies, or pollen, or hayfever or sinus.

Start using homeopathic allergy remedies today to lower your allergies and bring some relief.

Rhinoplasty Facility Costs

No matter where the doctor and the anesthesiologist are going to perform a rhinoplasty surgery, there will be a cost for the facility. This cost includes and nurses or other staff necessary for the procedure, equipment and supplies to be used and the facility?s general overhead whether that is a rhinoplasty being performed in an office or one being done in a hospital. Obviously, if there is a reason that the work must be performed in a hospital, there is going to be a higher charge involved than merely the fee charged for a simpler office procedure. And finally, this fee will include any costs involved in the anticipated recovery after the surgery. If a small procedure has been performed and a local anesthetic was administered, a short time after completion, the patient may be up, walking around, feeling fine and ready to leave after a final examination by the surgeon. However, if the work was more complex, if an anesthetic was necessary to keep the patient asleep for several hours, if the pain quotient is expected to be higher due to the nature of the problem being addressed, it will be several hours after the surgery has been completed before the patient will be awake and several more hours before the patient is examined and allowed to leave.

All of these factors will affect the facility fee (as well as all other costs involved) and should be completely discussed beforehand. Applying the total monies spent on facility fees and dividing that by the number of surgeries performed, we arrive at an approximate average facility fee, nationally, of $700. If you are being charged substantially more or less than that you should ask why and the doctor?s answers should adequately explain the difference.

In some instances, the doctor may be offering a ?package price? which would include his fee, the anesthesiologist? fee and the facility fee as one number. If this makes you uncomfortable for any reason or if the total price for the work you are requesting does not feel proper, ask for a breakdown.

Re member, the numbers quoted here are from compiled figures published by American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) under the category rhinoplasty cost. There are two factors to take into account with these numbers:

1. The category ?rhinoplasty cost? includes any surgery performed by a licensed surgeon operating on the nose. This can range from the removal of a simple bump, the repair of a simple skin tear or even hiding a small scar, up to a complete nasal reconstruction. As the complexity of the work increases, as the skill and artistry required of the surgeon increases, so does the cost.

2. Many rhinoplasty costs are hidden by doctors who have no problem billing their work to unsuspecting insurance companies as a repair of a ?deviated septum? to ?improve breathing difficulties? which would then be partially covered. This practice has become prevalent in the industry as the work can be performed and the client can save 60% or more of the total costs. Be aware if your doctor intends to bill your insurance company. If this is not something you wish to be involved in, make your desires known.

Tummy Tuck Information

Abdominoplasty is the medical terminology for what most people refer to as a Tummy Tuck.

In this procedure the goal is to flatten the stomach by removing excess skin and fat. The appearance is further improved by the tightening of abdominal muscles.

Length and details of the Tummy Tuck surgery

The length of operation usually runs between 2 to 5 hours.

For this type operation the patient is typically given general anesthesia or local anesthetic with sedation.

Depending on the extent of the surgery a patient may face either an inpatient or outpatient procedure.

Risks and/or complications related to Tummy Tucks

In most Tummy Tuck operations the potential side effects consist of temporary pain, swelling & soreness, numbness, and bruising. In addition there are other associated risks with this procedure that include the risk of blood clots, infection, and bleeding ?tucked area?. Some patients could encounter slow healing which could result in visible scarring and/or skin loss.

Tummy Tuck recovery time

For most patients the recovery time needed should be between 2 to 4 weeks. Most individuals should be able to return to work after this period. It may be necessarily to avoid strenuous activity for up to 4 to 6 weeks.

The cosmetic aspects of the surgery will take slightly longer with a gradual fading and flattening of a tummy tuck scar taking approximately 3 months to 2 years.

Long-term results of the Tummy Tuck surgery

The procedure is usually permanent with any changes being the result of aging or additional weight gain by the patient.

How much does a Tummy Tuck cost?

The cost for a Tummy Tuck surgery varies with prices in-between $4,200.00 to $7,600.00

Will my insurance cover a Tummy Tuck procedure?

Because a Tummy Tuck is considered an elective procedure, insurance usually will not cover the operation. However in some cases such as gastric bypass surgery a Tummy Tuck is often used to remedy the excess skin due ! to massi ve weight loss. In these cases it may be possible to have your health insurance plan pay for part of the cost.

Break Routines To Help Your Depression

When you suffer from depression, there are routines that are beneficial, but there are others which can hinder your recovery. Routines which prevent you from healthy activities, which keep you in the house, these routines will not allow you to move forward.

Before breaking routines, it is important to know which ones to break and which ones to maintain. Helpful routines establish when you do things that need to be done. Paying bills, eating at or around the same time each day, running errands and the like, these are routines that you should hold on to. These routines, where they set up the time when you perform activities that you need to do daily or weekly, should be maintained.

However, some routines, especially those which prevent you from doing things that you need to do, they are dangerous and should be broken. To break a routine can be very difficult, especially when they are set over the course of a long period of time. Some examples of routines are watching the same TV shows every day, including choosing to stay in and watch the shows (moreso if they are repeats) or listening to the same CDs at the same time. These latter routines are generally harmful.

It?s best to work on a gradual manner towards shattering the routine. An attempt to make a wholesale change at one time will most likely lead to failure, which can hinder more than it helps. Starting slowly, making changes one at a time is the best way to ensure success. Trying to do too much at once is just setting up for problems.

Pain and Sorrow

Patanjali in his Yogasutra describes that people are afflicted with five kinds of pain. These are - ignorance(avidya), attachment(raga), contempt(dvesha) and fear of death(abhinivesh)(II.3). However ignorance is the ground for the germination of all other pain and so long as ignorance is not rooted out through self-knowledge pain remains in one form or the other.

What is ignorance? Patanjali describes - to consider ephemeral(anitya) as eternal, falsity(ashuchi) as truth, sorrow(duhkha) as pleasure and soulless(anatman) as soul is ignorance(II.5). Things which the senses perceive have no real existence. These are ephemeral and false. These things inflict sorrow to those who believe in their reality. Hell, heaven, angels, ghosts or imaginary God have no real existence. All those religious symbols, statues of Gods and Goddesses have no real existence. The real power lies in the soul of every being. It is the illumination of souls by which everything illuminates. Things which have life and soul are real and existent. Matter which is lifeless is unreal and does not exist. Matter exists in the consciousness of living beings only.

Egoism develops when all visible powers accumulate(II.6). There are two powers - one is the power of soul and other is the power of visible things. Wealth power, ruling power, muscle power or atomic power are visible and are unreal. These are the manifestations of soul power only. Atomic power manifests when we invest huge amount in it; wealth power manifests when we work hard and earn it; ruling power manifests when a ruling few create fear in masses. All these powers are unreal and one who believes in their reality becomes a egoist and suffers from pain.

Similarly, because of ignorance, people develop attachment to unreal things considering them as real and blissful; people develop contemt and look down upon real and blissful things. At present, people are more and more attracted towards material gain, while they develop indifference or even contemt towards fami! ly, frie nds and other living beings. Soul, life and consciousness are only real and existent. We should be attracted towards them only.

Fear of death is highly painful. Patanjali describes - even those wise men who believe only in natural laws are afflicted with the fear of death and are no better than fools(II.9). Learned and wise men see and believe in the natural cycles of birth and death, sunrise and sunset, summer and winter and the cycle of water in rivers. However one should bear in mind that natural cycles or laws govern only material world. These cycles are not at par with the cycle of birth and death. Material world cannot deviate from natural laws, but man can deviate from everything. The mind of man cannot be subjugated by external forces. Mind and soul are unborn and eternal. As we change dresses, so the soul enters into different bodies as it wishes. So the fear of death is unfounded. As we go to dreaming and sleeping states, so we go to after world from the present world. As we go to dreaming and sleeping states whenever we wish, so we may go to after world depending upon our willingness. Through the practice of Yoga we should make our will power strong and keep it under control. Fear of death is avoidable and can be brought under control.

All thoughts which generate due to ignorance and cause pain may be avoided through meditation(II.11). In meditation a practitioner should try to rest in true self. True self is the home and reality of all. When one slips down from this reality. one succumbs to pail and misery. True self is blissful which only gives eternal pleasure.

Patanjali describes that the root cause of pain is desire to act. When there is action there is pain and sorrow, because action is succeeded by fruit of action which may be pleasure or pain. Virtuous deeds give rise to pleasure and happiness, whereas evil deeds give rise to pain and sorrow. So one should act thinking what to receive. None, even God gives fruit of action. The Twin Towers of New York was demolished du! e to the evil deeds of terrorists. While man can do whatever he wishes, there is none who may check him. Only man can check another man. For this impending pain and sorrow is avoidable. If Intelligence Agency would have been more vigilent, the demolition of Twin Towers would have been averted.

People desire more and act more. By this they invite sorrow. This impending sorrow is avoidable. So long as we do not know the cause of this impending sorrow, we cannot avoid it. Yogasutra describes the cause as - the union of seer and sight is the cause of this impending and avoidable sorrow(II.17). In deep sleep there is no desire and no action and for this there is no sorrow. In deep sleep seer and sight become one. There is none other than the self. For this one sees nothing and hear nothing. It is the blissful state. Even a cancer patient feels the bliss of deep sleep.

Try Flax Seed Oil Weight Loss

What is better than a diet that is convenient?

Years and years of research have been dedicated to the subject of weight loss. Some of the obvious findings are that routine exercise and a healthy, well balanced diet in moderation can lead to weight loss. However, many people don?t have time to obsess about having a healthy diet or consistently workout so they are also looking for a more convenient method to lose weight. Convenience often means finding the quickest method that they can in order to experience weight loss, whether they have reservations about its effectiveness or not. This is where some of the years of research have spawned worthless products such as machines that are designed to give you the perfect stomach or pills that claim to decrease your waste size overnight. So if you have tried these products in the past, consider something more natural and try flax seed oil weight loss.

Flax seed oil does your body good

We want to familiarize you with flax seed oil. It is extracted from the flax seed grain and has been used for centuries. The strange thing about flax seed oil weight loss is that it occurs because of the presence of two fatty acids within the oil known as Linolenic (Omega 3) and Linoleic (Omega 6). It may be weird to ponder the possibilities of fatty acid helping to promote weight loss but when these two substances combine, they become key in the process of calorie burning. This is because they combine to become prostaglandins, which help with weight loss and also provide other benefits such as moderating cholesterol, body temperature, the immune system, brain functions, and the cardiovascular system.

Get enough Omega 3 and feel the difference

The problem with most diets is that they don?t get enough Omega 3 in their diet along with the Omega 6 to produce a lot of prostaglandins. The ratio should be one Omega 3 for every two Omega 6, but instead is usually one for every twenty in typical diets. Make sure that you are getting enough Omega 3, a! dd flax seed oil to your diet and notice the change in your body and brain.

What is Acne Removal?

Acne removal is the first thing on the mind of a person suffering from acne. Acne occurs when androgen hormone increases in the body causing clogged skin pores. In the clogged skin pore the presence of bacteria forms acne.

Mainly home remedies or herbal remedies are indicated as parallel methods of acne removal. Some mechanical acne removal processes also have come up following worldwide research for acne removal. Acne light therapy is a prominent method for acne removal. In the acne light therapy highly sensitive blue light is used for acne removal. In laser acne therapy for acne removal, highly sophisticated laser rays are used to kill the bacteria hidden under the surface of the skin. This way acne removal is now a high tech process too.

You can make herbal and home remedies at home. If you follow a basic guideline and restrict some bad habits, then you can do wonders for acne removal. Washing the face thoroughly with oil free face wash twice a day assists acne removal. Then apply natural cleansers on the face daily. Cleansers clean oily particles from the face and always keep skin pores open. This way a daily routine can be helpful in acne removal. It is also important to avoid oily junk foods. The Different Kinds of Fertility Tests

There are a number of different types of fertility tests that can be performed. These test range from at home fertility tests, to complex tests a specialized doctor does to couples who are not able to become pregnant. An at home test simply measures the hormones in the urine when a women is fertile. But this test can only work in detecting the hormones while there could be far more in depth problems then that.

Fertility test does not refer to one simple test that can be performed by a fertility doctor. It can, and most likely does, refer to a series of tests that are preformed to try to isolate the problem. Before any testing for actual fertility, medical workups are accomplished including in-depth medical histories of both partners, testing for simple vaginal and cervical viral or bacterial infections that can cause difficulty in achieving pregnancy. These problems are easily treated and you will be able to have children if no other problems exist. After this stage, the real testing begins.

Often the first fertility test performed is a semen analysis and semen culture as well as sperm penetration and function studies. This is not because the male is more often at fault in the case of fertility difficulties, but it can be much easier to obtain a sperm sample that to extract and examine an egg.

One of the most common forms of fertility testing for the females involves something called hysterosalpingogram. This is a form of x-ray that allows the doctors to study the anatomy of the inside reproductive organs. The doctors will look for problems in the lining, location or structure of the uterus as well as allowing them to determine if the fallopian tubes are open and capable of allowing an egg to pass from the ovaries to the uterus. A frequent problem that could cause infertility is scarring. Scarring can be detected by this form of testing, ultrasound can also detect it.

A woman may also under to mid-cycle fertility testing which looks for what is known as the LH surge. This hormo! nal surg e occurs just before to the release of the mature egg from the ovary and is tested by looking at the LH in urine. After the LH surge occurs, the couple is asked to have intercourse and then immediately have a post-intercourse examination. At that time cervical mucus can be used to determine if live, healthy sperm are present in the uterus.

There are other tests that can be performed to isolate the problem. Once you have figured out where the problem is there are different ways to treat it. There are techniques, therapies, and treatments available to allow the couple to have a successful pregnancy. However, not one fertility test can quickly and easily identify what is wrong. As technology enhances and becomes more developed it will become easier to isolate the problems that enable a couple to get pregnant.

To Cap Or Not To Cap

Almost any tooth with a periodontally sound root (a tooth that is not loose) can be salvaged with a crown (cap). False teeth (removable bridges) are almost never the best solution. You should usually choose to have a crown made over extraction or removable bridges. In the long run, it is also the least expensive choice. Removable teeth or Partial Dentures have clasps or hooks which go around existing teeth and can weaken your remaining teeth. These hooks over time can loosen these support teeth. Caps are usually needed if a tooth has been broken or for cosmetic reason if the tooth has a large old filling. Recent research has shown that a filling that covers two -thirds of the tooth or more should be capped. Most people will wait until a tooth breaks before they have it capped. If the tooth breaks the wrong way, you could wind up loosing the tooth or wind up needing additional work including root canal, post, and gum surgery. Having a large filling in a tooth is like having a large filling in a shell of egg. The shell is weak and could break if you bite something too hard. Also, teeth get more brittle as you mature. The old trend was to wait before you replace a large filling with a crown. Wait for what? If the tooth breaks, you could wind up with a greater expense, or if it breaks the wrong way it may have to be removed. I have heard stories of dentists waiting until patients have retired to tell them they need caps. At that point, the patient replied, When I was working I had income and insurance to afford a crown, but now, since I am retired I don't have income or insurance so why did you wait? There was not good reason to wait. The rule we use in determining if a tooth needs a cap is if the tooth is over 2/3 rd's filling. In this case a crown or cast filling is indicated. Some dentists wait too long to treat these teeth or the patient retires and then is confronted with the need to replace these large fillings. .Some people say caps are permanent. Nothing is forever. The average life expectan! cy for c aps are 7 to 12 years. That's statistics. If you take care of your teeth and go to see your dentist for regular check-ups, they can last over 20 years. This is still longer than cars last, so don't say that a cap is too expensive. The fee for crowns vary according to the materials used. The range in our office is one hundred dollars to six hundred and fifty dollars. Most of us take health for granted The cost of medical and dental health must not be determined by cost alone. Health must also be determined by value. In dentistry value means look good, feel good, and eat well. Can you put a price on good health? No, it's priceless. We use different materials in crowns. There are crowns made of all gold, gold and plastic, all porcelain, acrylic, porcelain to metal, porcelain to semiprecious metal and porcelain to gold. Depending on the type of crown, the price can vary. Not all crowns are alike. Some dental offices that offer cut-rate dentistry use crowns that cost half as much to make. The quality of these crowns are not as good as crowns costing more. When your dentist gives you a price for a crown, he will usually factor in his laboratory cost for making a crown. Most dentists charge what we call a Usual and Customary rate (U.C.R.) for a crown. This is what the majority of dentists charge for the same crown in that area. If you have accidentally broke a tooth or teeth your medical insurance will usually pay for it. Insurance companies and employers looking to save money are reducing your dental benefits. If you need crowns, take advantage of your benefits now. Remember, dental benefits can not be carried over to the following year. A series of caps together is call a fixed bridge.

Sometime you will hear a person say, I just had all my teeth capped. The feeling you get is that this was done for the sake of appearance. It is possible that he did. However, in today's world of modern dentistry, it would be more probable that he did not. Today, there are alternatives to crowns. These alternatives i! nclude B onding, Porcelain Laminates Veneers and Onlays, all of which are less expensive than crowns.

Before you have a tooth capped you should get a second opinion and ask your dentist if you are a good candidate for Bonding or Porcelain Laminates or onlays. By the way, teeth that are capped don't usually need Root Canals. Dentistry is benefiting from new research and materials. If you haven't been to a modern dental facility, you should go to one.

Saliva Stops Aids

One of the great mysteries of this century is the one how a young girl in Florida contracted Aids. The initial reports indicated that she may have contracted it from her dentist. Unfortunately, this theory was full of loopholes. One was that with all the millions of dental office visits each year, why were there not more than one case reputed nationwide? This fact plagued researchers over the next few years. Perhaps there was something in the saliva which prevents or inhibits Aids. Recently, scientists have discovered a protein in saliva that in test tubes prevent the Aids virus from infecting cells in humans. This explains why the spread of AIDS in humans is non-existent through the saliva. Dr. Tessie McNeely of the National Institute of Dental Research in Bethesda, Maryland and researchers from Amgen Inc. did the research and presented it at the National Conference on Human Retroviruses on January 30, 1995 in California. Now Amgen have genetically engineered the protein molecule in the saliva that prevents AIDS and are trying to find out if large doses can prevent AIDS.

There have been cases of AIDS reported, but they seem to only be caused by blood to blood oral transmission and are very rare. Nobody has documented a case of AIDS transmission through kissing. ?That?s why we decided to look at saliva,? said McNeely, who initially studied her own saliva. The researchers added this saliva protein to a test tube with cells infected with the AIDS virus and found that the virus could not attach itself to the cell membrane in order to infect the cells. Even more impressive, the researchers could wash the protein out of the test tubes and the immune system of the cells were still protected for up to four weeks. It took only minute amounts of this protein called SLPI (for those who want to know what it stands for- SECRETORY LEUKOCYTE PROTEASE INHIBITOR) to produce this large amount of protection for the cells. Since SLPI is found normally in the blood also, but in very small amounts, It reasons that! increas ing the blood levels could help to treat AIDS without producing many of the side effects found in AIDS related medication.

This news is also good for people who were afraid to go to the dentist because of the fear of AIDS.

Detox your Body and Discharge Toxins Effectively and Safely

We are exposed to pollutants and toxins daily - the air we breathe and the water we drink might be contaminated, the food we eat may contain lots of preservatives, artificial colouring and flavoring and others.

Toxic cells are recognized as the root of over 90% of known diseases. Hence, it is very important to detoxify the body's cells daily to lead a healthy lifestyle and stay healthy.

Today, consumers purchase expensive massage equipment, painful foot reflexology, ion cleansing and food supplement programs for body detoxification. However, most consumers have overlooked water towards a healthy lifestyle. Water is an imperatvie agent of body detoxification.

Chi Energy Water, particularly, with its unique characteristics, effectively helps to enhance the detoxification process by the body's cells. Over 30 uears of clinical studies by researchers in Japan have proven that patients with stomach cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes, hepatitis B, urinary bladder cancer, obesity, chronic bronchitis and dermatits have shown significant improvement by taking energy water regularly.

Chi Energy Water helps to detox your body!

Regular bowel movement is an important measure in discharging toxins from the colon. Colon cleansing can be done by consuming bio-fibre. Body detoxification programs highly stresses on the consumption of 4 to 5 litres of water a day to facilitate the discharge of coprolith from the colon. However, it is certainly difficult to consumer that amount of normal drinking water.

On the other hand, small cluster energy water tastes smoother, sweeter and is easily absorbed into the body. This allows you to drink more than 30-100% water without feeling bloated or having the full-stomach sensation. This allows toxins to be effectively discharged from the colon and prevents constipation as well. Those who suffer from constipation will experience noticeavle improvements within a week or two after consuming energy water.

All toxins in the body will eventually ! be dilut ed by water and be flushed out through urine, sweat and respiration. The high dissolving power of energy water enhances the effectiveness of detoxifying agents in a body detoxification program such as chlorella, and cellular nutrition, such as spirulina.

Similarly, by drinking energy water before and after a body massage or foot reflexology, can effectively dissolve toxin in the body and ultimately enhance toxin elimination.

Oriental medical science stresses that the major cause of all diseases stems from the blockage of Chi circulation in the body. Who Else Wants Coupons To Go Tanning For Free?

Coupons have been around since at least 1894 when Asa Candler, a drugist, passed out slips of paper for a free glass of his brand new drink, Coca-Cola. Today, the enlightened consumer knows the value of using coupons to save money and to enjoy being able to partake of services that may well have been unobtainable absent the coupon. With the growth of the Internet, many now seek their printable coupons from the world wide web.

Savvy Businesses use coupons to attract new customers. Tanning Salon owners are truly people oriented and fully understand the need to keep their customer base pleased with high quality friendly service and a near hospital standard of sanitation in the salon. They also know they must market their tanning salon to garner new clientele.

The big question for most business owners is: Where do I get the biggest bang for my marketing buck?

One means to analyze alternatives to ascertain just where the biggest bang comes from is to cost out the marketing plan for various media. For the coupons to go tanning for free one might look at print media such as newspapers, magazines, billboards, or even at radio and television. For the tanning salon owner, these usually prove cost prohibitive except in some smaller local markets.

Direct mail is certainly an option and can be anything from hand written postcards to exquisite pre-printed cards. E-mail has proven to be a very profitable means to advertise. For the latter two, the list is the key to the success of direct mailing and e-mail. For direct mail, a business owner can develop a list from their local phone book or pay a hefty fee to a list broker for a targeted mailing list or do something in-between.

So that we can use an example, please indulge me this, let us assume that three business owners each have paid for a list, printing, postage and handling for 1000 coupon postcards and each business owner's total cost came to $730. The first business owner's mailing list was a cold mailing list meaning a ! bunch of names and addresses to somebody somewhere. The first business owner received the usual cold-list response rate of about one-half of one percent which resulted in five brand new customers. The second business owner had a bit better list and was able to enjoy the national coupon redemption rate of about three percent resulting in thirty new customers walking in their door to redeem their coupons. The third business owner had a highly targeted mailing list of known local tanners who were looking for a new salon and they enjoyed a response rate of thirteen and two-tenths percent resulting in one-hundred and thirty-two new customers.

Obviously, five new customers is better than none. Thirty new customers is better than five. And, one-hundred and thirty-two new customers is better than thirty. Another way to say this is that the first business received five new customers for a $730 marketing expenditure or paid $146 per customer who walked through their door to redeem their coupon. The second business received thirty new customers for a $730 marketing expenditure or paid $24.33 per customer who walked through their door to redeem their coupon. The third business received one-hundred and thirty-two new customers for a $730 marketing expenditure or paid $5.55 per customer who walked through their door to redeem their coupon.

With e-mail one can make the same value argument for e-mail lists as above with one very large additional risk and that is called SPAM. SPAM can result in e-mail restrictions to shutting down an entire website.

In the early 1980's the tanning industry was a baby. Now it is a fully grown mature industry and the answer to the question of where a salon owner gets the biggest bang for their coupon marketing buck lies somewhere else than in the same identical coupons their competition is handing out. While one may well have a great list, today's consumer recognizes and receives many coupon offers. In 2000 there were nearly 4.5 billion coupons circulated in the United! States alone. Roughly eighty percent of those making between $25,000 and $75,000 per year use coupons some time and folks with these income levels can afford to tan.

Continuing our example above, to the salon owner, is it worth spending $146 or $24.33 or even $5.55 per customer to distribute first time tanner coupons that almost every salon gives away or standard referral coupons or birthday coupons or buy three get one free UV Free airbrush tanning coupons? It occurred to us that salon owners and tanners may be better served by making these tanning industry standard coupons available to everyone for free off a website.

The tanner enjoys the benefit of the coupon to go tanning for free. The salon owner enjoys the benefit of not having to spend hard earned cash to pay for advertising common to most all tanning salons and the website enjoys a few more hits. That is called cooperative advertising. Please visit our website soon so you can enjoy your own coupons to go tanning for free.

A Guide To Fibromyalgia Symptoms And Alternative Treatments

Fibromyalgia Symptoms...

If you have ever known anyone who had fibromyalgia syndrome, you may have thought that it was ?all in their head?. For many years people who suffered from fibromyalgia syndrome had to deal with a relative lack of understanding by the medical community, friends and family, as if suffering from the fibromyalgia symptoms themselves weren't bad enough.

Finally in 1990, the American College of Rheumatology established guidelines for diagnosing fibromyalgia and it is now estimated that as many as 5 million Americans or 2% of the population are affected. But, even though diagnosing fibromyalgia may be easier, it is still very difficult to treat.

Fibromyalgia symptoms that are used for diagnosing the syndrome include widespread pain on both sides of the body and above and below the hip, which has been present for at least three months.

While blood tests may be performed to rule out other diseases, the test typically used to make the diagnosis of fibromyalgia syndrome involves applying pressure to ?tender point? sites throughout the body. If the patient feels pain in at least 11 of the 18 different tender-point sites and, as previously mentioned, the patient has a history of widespread pain, then the diagnosis of fibromyalgia is made.

Although pain is the most common symptom and the one used for diagnosis, those who suffer from fibromyalgia often experience other problems as well. These may include irritable bowel syndrome, fatigue, sleep disturbances, headaches (including migraines), and heightened sensitivity to odors, bright lights, noise and touch.

Other symptoms that may be present in fibromyalgia syndrome include depression, anxiety, dizziness, numbness or tingling in the hands and feet, difficulty concentrating, mood changes, chest pain, irritable bladder, dry skin, eyes and mouth. It is the combination of symptoms that may be present in fibromyalgia syndrome that make treatment so difficult.

One woman from Atlanta, GA reported taking 13! differe nt prescription medications to relieve her fibromyalgia symptoms and apparently this is not uncommon. This is because doctors do not know what causes fibromyalgia; therefore, they may feel as if they have little choice but to prescribe an array of different drugs to treat different fibromyalgia symptoms.

So, they prescribe anti-inflammatory drugs to treat the pain, anti-depressants for depression, anxiety and mood changes, sleep aids for sleep disturbance, and so on.

Another woman, this one from Montana, was taking 2200 mg of ibuprofen (a commonly used anti-inflammatory) every day to control her fibromyalgia symptoms and still suffered from fatigue and sleep disturbances. 2200 mg is eleven regular strength tablets.

That much ibuprofen taken on a regular basis could cause ulcers, bleeding in the stomach and/or digestive tract, liver damage and a variety of ?less? serious side effects that are similar to fibromyalgia symptoms, for which the ibuprofen was originally prescribed. These less serious -- though still highly unpleasant -- side effects include dizziness, muscle pain and cramping, depression, irritable bowel, fatigue and dry mouth.

Because fibromyalgia is so difficult to treat, people who suffer from the condition often seek alternatives. Both of the previously mentioned women were able to get relief from their fibromyalgia symptoms and reduce or eliminate prescription medications entirely by using a product made from the mangosteen.

The mangosteen is a fruit -- sometimes referred to as Queen of Fruits -- that grows in the rainforests of Southeast Asia and contains more natural pain killing and life enhancing phyto-chemicals than anything previously known.

Dr. J. Frederic Templeton, M.D., says:

?The mangosteen?s benefits spans a wide range of effects: anti-inflammatory...anti-microbial...anti-tumor...anti-aging, anti-fatigue...anti-atherosclerotic, antihistamine and the list goes on!?

Another practitioner, Dr. Jim Duke lists phyto-chemicals that are a! nalgesic , anti-inflammatory and Cox-2 inhibiting, any one of which could address the pain of fibromyalgia syndrome. He goes on to list components which are anti-anxiety, anti-depressant, anti-diarrhea, anti-fatigue, anti-vertigo (dizziness), all of which may help specific fibromyalgia symptoms.

Although no clinical studies have yet proven that mangosteen can relieve fibromyalgia symptoms, there is a strong degree of anecdotal evidence.

Dr. Templeman, M.D. states: Although no other intervention has ever helped even 45% of my patients, in my experience, mangosteen can bring relief, either partial or complete, to over 60% of sufferers. By sufferers, of course, he means those afflicted with fibromyalgia.

Laboratory research concerning the components of the mangosteen has proven that Cox-2 inhibitors are present, anti-inflammatory agents are present, anti-oxidants -- which many scientists believe play anti-aging and anti-fatigue roles -- are present.

All of the phyto-chemicals listed by Dr. Duke have been isolated and identified. The anti-oxidants in mangosteen are so powerful that they are called Xanthones, and more of these are being found every day, as scientists continue to do research.

In fact, according to PubMed, a service of the National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health, Xanthones are the subject of over 1,000 different studies!

Even though are some other natural remedies promoted for fibromyalgia syndrome, it seems their effectiveness for the relief of fibromyalgia symptoms is sketchy at best.

And, the truth of the matter is, even mangosteen may not work for you, but if you suffer from numerous fibromyalgia symptoms, it seems well worth a try.

Yoga for Relaxation

Discover the true meaning of yoga?

In taking any modern yoga class, you will find parallels to ballet. Like ballet, the promise of poise, grace and flexibility encourages much interest. Yet if yoga is like any other exercise, it is only at first glance. Underneath the coveted health and fitness benefits of modern yoga practice are the roots of a great spiritual tradition blending cultures and religions.

Unfortunately, through the westernization of yoga, we have lost an essential component of this peaceful practice. Though the ritual remains intact the meaning has gone astray. Where previously the postures of yoga practice were merely a branch of a tree; today they are viewed by western society as the tree itself. How do we bring meaning to our poses?

Modern Yoga?s Roots and Benefits

Though the development of yoga cannot be pinned to an exact year, the discovery of the Indus seals, which show figures in the classic yoga asana (posture) of lotus pose, trace yoga back to at least 3000 BCE. At this time the Vedas were being written, which today?s yoga postures are derived from. These gave birth to Vedic yoga, which accommodated the ancient Indians fixation on ritual and sacrifice. We see evidence of the importance of sacrifice in the yogic corpse posture. Lying as though we were placed in a coffin, this represents the ultimate sacrifice-that of death. Though seemingly morbid, corpse posture is one of hope when we understand that according to the Vedanta sutras, death results in liberation

Sacrifice was meant to join the material and the physical, and create the longed-for ?union? that defines the word Yoga. The Vedanta sutras (vs.4:4,13-14) declare that the liberated soul is not materially motivated.. By asking us to free ourselves from the bondage of material motivation, compassion requires us to be selfless. Surely, this giving is an exercise in compassion. Even still, the modern practice of yoga facilitates this. Through postures and stillness, we alter our co! nsciousn ess and therefore change our perspective. In our new realization of others as being part of the cosmic whole, we feel that in giving to them we are also giving to ourselves.

The ancient philosophy of yoga saw its postures as part of a greater whole. Thousands of years ago during the time of Astanga yoga, posture practice was one piece of a more important whole. Astanga yoga, which originated during Vedic India, was derived of eight branches; yama (control and discipline), niyama (rules, methods and principle), asana (posture), pranayama (focused breathing), prathyahara(avoidance of undesirable action),dharana (concentration), dhyana (meditation) and samadhi (contemplation). In contrast, most contemporary yoga focuses on postures and uses breath work as a small component or an afterthought. Though admittedly, the current vision of yoga over-emphasizes asana, it is extremely important and has enormous benefits. The medically studied benefits of yoga include the following: Stress reduction, improved muscle strength and tone, increased energy and flexibility, improved balance and coordination and a reduction in depression. . Moving with Compassion

Through most of asana practice, we are unconsciously engaging in physical metaphor. Many yoga postures are named after and imitate the living world; tree pose, eagle pose, frog pose, cat pose. By developing postures that imitate the stance of animals, the vedic seers may have been seeking not only to embrace the qualities of these animals, but to formulate compassion for them. The way that compassion serves as a partner to yoga?s goal of liberation can be understood through reading the ancient yogic texts. Understand these vedas; whether they be the Rig Veda (knowledge of praise),Yajur-Veda (knowledge of sacrifice), Sama Veda (knowledge of chants), and Atharva-Veda(knowledge of atharvan), is likelier while deep in meditation. Understanding the vedic sutras, we are permitted to experience a bliss unknown through material grasping.

In this ! state ev eryday experiences fade away and a greater perspective unfolds. Over time, meditation also allows us to become more intuitive and receptive. This opens us up to others, enhancing our compassionate nature. This experience has been discussed by Eastern sacred-text expert ?H.P. Blavatsky?s in ?The Voice of the Silence.? Blavatsky writes: ?Compassion is no attribute. IT is the LAW of LAWS?eternal Harmony, Alaya?s SELF; a shoreless universal essence, the light of everlasting Right, and fitness of all things, the law of love eternal.?

In order to experience compassion for others we must first extend it to ourselves. Straining too forcefully in a pose is counter to compassion. Why? Yoga teaches us that we are all connected, so when we hurt ourselves this pain eventually reaches others. Instead we must strive for gentle self-acceptance, competing with nobody-not even ourselves. This is essential to a rewarding experience of yoga.

Postures for Peace

By the time of Patanjali?s yoga sutras, which were written near the beginning of the common era, we begin to see a discussion of the more practical aspects of yoga. Posture is discussed (be it mainly for meditative purposes), as is concentration of the mind during this exercise. In the Yoga-Sutra, Patanjali presents relaxation as the very essence of yoga practice. He teaches us that posture should be steady and comfortable .This sentiment is reflected in the postures (asanas) of today?s practice. The physical dimension of yogic exercise requires us to have compassion for our limits. We are never asked to push, instead only to release. Mercifully, our small efforts are graced with us connecting to a life-force that is divine and encompassing.

Asanas urge us to see our body as divine, and to nurture health in this mortal temple. Yogic adepts understand that their body is flawed, however slender and toned it may look externally. This acknowledgement leads to less judgement of other?s bodies. However pleasing to the eye a yogis shape may be, t! he same vedic texts that encourage the practice of yoga for health, also remind us that true ?liberation? comes from being free of the cycle of rebirth-free of the physical form.

Yogic postures work in contrast to the western notion of exercise. Here we see exercise as an end, such as an end to overweight and fatigue. Yoga is different. While in most forms of exercise the physical results are the sole goal, in yoga the soul is the goal. The ancient tradition of yoga exercise stands apart in its doctrines. The ancient yoga texts insist that the mind and spirit are more important than the physical body. While many other eastern forms of mind-body fitness also encourage this awareness, no other physical practice has the ultimate goal of union with the divine. In yoga, the process of attaining this union is as important as the actual attainment.

Yoga practice is not a means to an end. It is an end in of itself. Even distinguished from vedas and sutras, the modern practice of yoga posture is a beautiful and calming pursuit. Though modern yoga practice makes little mention of the scriptures that it is based on, the experience of union and compassion can be woven into each pose. In doing this we are enhancing more than our practice, we are improving our life.

Top 5 Ways to Get Rid of Acne

Acne is a problem that affects a large amount of people across the world. Contrary to popular misconceptions it does not discriminate completely against age or sex. It's true that it does seem to be closely associated with hormones and people who are suffering from high hormone levels and for this reason teens are more likely to develop acne than any other age group. However, over a quarter of adults will also develop acne at some point in their adult lives. Adult acne can cause depression and social anxiety so treating it can be vital to sufferers. There have been many different treatments for acne in the past but many have failed to regularly and consistently get rid of acne.

1- There are a number of cleansing lotions and moisturizers that can be bought over the counter in chemists or supermarkets. These have a varied degree of success and some will work better than others. Unfortunately they can be expensive, especially if you need to try several before you have any success.

2- Antibiotics can work well with some patients, but the body quickly builds up an immunity to most antibiotics rendering them useless. Also, while antibiotics might work to get rid of acne they can also produce undesirable side effects in users. You may become more light sensitive or suffer from dizziness or nausea.

3- Acne seems to be closely related to increased levels of hormones. For this reason many women suffer from acne at the same time each month during their menstrual cycle. A doctor may prescribe a birth control pill that balances hormone levels and therefore works effectively to get rid of acne.

4- Vitamin derivatives and nutritional supplements work very well to get rid of acne as long as you buy the right ones. Vitamins A, C and E as well as Iron work well in the fight against acne and are readily available from most grocery stores. Some of these supplements and derivatives can have some notable side effects. The gels and creams will make you more sensitive to light so you should always com! bine the m with sun screen.

5- Short treatments of intense light have been proven to be very effective in helping your get rid of acne. usually conducted over a four week period many patients have shown excellent progress, especially when compared to medicines and other techniques.

John Mancini has been writing about acne online and offline for a long time. Visit http://bye-bye-pimples.com or http://acne-no-more.com to read more about matters like adult acne.

Complete Your Own Fitness Assessment At Home!

To get anywhere, you need to know where you?re starting from and when it comes to weight loss that means giving yourself a basic fitness assessment.

This can be depressing for most people because the results confirm what they have been avoiding: They?re overweight, unfit, and at high risk of heart disease!

But these people a looking at it all wrong. Don?t get depressed, get focused!

This could be one of the biggest turning points in your life. You can get fitter, you can rid yourself of fat, and you can reduce your risk of heart disease. And it doesn?t take much work.

Just commitment!

Ok. Let?s get into the Fitness Assessment. You will need a pen and some paper to write down your measurements, and a cloth measuring tape (like the ones used for sewing).Remember, you should use these results to measure yourself against every 6-8 weeks.

Process:

  • Take shoes and socks off.
  • Stand against wall with feet together.
  • Pull shoulders back and look straight ahead.
  • Place a book on top of your head (make sure that it touches the wall and is level).
  • Measure from bottom of book to floor.

Weight

This is the one everyone hates. Too much emphasis is placed on weight and it isn't an accurate measure of how much excess fat you carry. You can burn 10kg of fat but the scales only show you as 5kg lighter. It happens all the time. When you haven?t exercised much and you start a regular program, it can be quite easy to put on a bit of muscle. So remember, your weight is only a measure of gravity (and gravity sucks!).

You should only weigh yourself every couple of weeks. You can measure your progress more accurately with the measuring tape.

Process:

  • Take shoes and socks off.
  • Stand on the scales with feet evenly spaced and weight evenly distributed over both feet.

Resting Heart Rate

This is the number of times that your heart beats, per! minute, when totally rested. It?s best to measure this when you first wake up.

Process:

  • Sit on a chair and use the first two fingers on your left hand to feel for your pulse on your right wrist. Your palm should be turned up, and you will feel it on the right side of the wrist.
  • Count how many beats you have in 60 seconds.

If your heart is healthy, it will be below 80 beats per minute. As you get fitter, your resting heart rate drops, which means that your heart doesn?t have to work as hard. Your goal should be to reach 50-60 beats.

Girth Measurements

Measure your waist, stomach, and hips. Keep the tape measure firm. This is what you will measure your improvements against.

The measuring points can be found at these locations:

  • Waist: This is the smallest place between your hips and your chest
  • Stomach: In line with your navel.
  • Hips: This is the biggest measurement at the pelvis.

Body Mass Index (BMI)

Body Mass Index basically measures your level of fatness (I know, I just made that word up!).

It?s calculated using the formula: BMI = ( Weight in Kilograms / ( Height in Meters ) x ( Height in Meters ) ).

So if your height is 1.73 meters (173cm) and your weight is 90 kilograms, you would start by multiplying 1.73 * 1.73. This equals 2.99. Next you would divide that number into your weight (90).

Therefore, the formula would look like: 90 divided by 2.99 = 30.1!

If you don?t use the metric system, use this formula: BMI = ( Weight in Pounds / ( Height in inches ) x ( Height in inches ) ) x 703

Although a small amount of excess body fat (26-27) is not likely to be very harmful to the health of most people, having a BMI above 30 (obese) significantly increases the risks of a wide range of diseases, including heart disease, diabetes, stroke, osteoarthritis, and gall bladder disease. This is especially true for people who have excess fat in the abdominal area.

Waist- to-Hip Ratio

This measures your risk of heart attack. It does this by assessing body fat distribution. The closer the score is to 1.00, the higher the risk of heart disease. A good score is

Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha Latin names is Withania Somniferum and Ashwagandha common name is Indian Ginseng.

Ashwagandha belongs to the pepper family and is found in India and Africa. The roots and leaves of ashwagandha are used medicinally. The health applications for ashwagandha in traditional Indian and Ayurvedic medicine are extensive. Ayurveda is made up of two Sanskrit words, Ayu, which means life, and Veda, which means knowledge. For more than 1,000 years, ashwagandha has been highly prized as a treatment for impotence, stress, infertility and arthritis. The shoots and seeds of the plant are also used in India as food, and to thicken milk. In the West, researchers have focused on isolating the one or two active ingredients in each herb. In the ayurvedic tradition, however, the entire plant is used on the assumption that all the compounds in a plant are meant to work together. Because of it's wide range of activity on many different body systems, ashwagandha has long been reputed to be an overall tonic that can promote health and vitality, much like ginseng. Ashwagandha twigs have been chewed for cleaning teeth, and the smoke of the plant has been inhaled for relief of toothaches.

Uses of Ashwagandha:

Arthritis
Asthma
Bronchitis
Cancer
Candida
Fever
Inflammations
Nausea
Rheumatism
Mental function
Stress

In general, tonics such as Ashwagandha are believed to strengthen and fortify the body so that it is better able to withstand stressful situations. In other words, it helps the body to maintain it's equilibrium, even during difficult times.

Today, ashwagandha is included in many combination formulas to treat a variety of ills. It is being heavily promoted as an aphrodisiac. A natural anti-inflammatory agent, ashwagandha may help to reduce the discomfort associated with arthritis. Ashwagandha is said to be useful in the treatment of inflammatory conditions, ulcers, and scabies when applied topically. Compounds known as withanolid! es are b elieved to account for the multiple medicinal applications of ashwagandha. These molecules are steroidal and bear a resemblance, both in their action and appearance, to the active constituents of Asian ginseng, known as ginsenosides. The pharmacological activity of the roots is attributed to the presence of several alkaloids. Many biochemically heterogeneous alkaloids have been reported in the roots. In all, 13 Dragendorffpositive components have been obtained chromatographically. They include cuscohygrine, anahygrine, tropine, pseudotropine, anaferine, and isopelletierine.

Passionflower

With its alien-looking flowers, egg-shaped fruit and wandering tendrils, passionflower is one of the most unusual plants you'll ever come across in the U.S. Known botanically as Passiflora incarnata, passionflower is native to the southeast and mid-south regions of the United States. This climbing vine that so entranced Spanish missionaries in the 1600s can grow 30 feet long, inhabiting fence rows, woodlands and backyards alike.

Traditional Medical Uses for Passionflower

Native Americans crushed passionflower's lobed leaves and applied them directly to the skin to ease bruises, cuts and other wounds. Infusions made from the leaves were used to treat ear infections, strengthen the blood and relieve stress. And until 1978, when the FDA pulled its support of the herb, it was included in many over-the-counter sleep aids.

Passionflower Today

In 1978, the FDA re-classified passionflower as a Class II herb, citing a lack of substantiated evidence that passionflower was effective as a sedative. But passionflower is still widely used in Europe where passionflower extract is frequently combined with extracts of other natural sedatives like valerian, chamomile and lemon balm.

Today's herbalists use passionflower as a digestive aid, as a stress-reducer and as an insomnia treatment. Passionflower can be used fresh but it's more frequently dried for use in pills, teas and extractions like tinctures and infusions.

Current Research

Though passionflower is widely used, it's not been widely studied. But the few studies that have been done are encouraging. A European study of people with generalized anxiety disorder found that passionflower was as effective as prescription medications as relieving anxiety.

And another study looking at treatments for congestive heart failure found that an extract of hawthorn and passionflower improved symptoms like shortness of breath.

Other unproven uses for passionflower include opiate detoxification, ADHD and seizures.

Behavior Change Tips For Your Healthy Lifestyle Part 1

How do I change a behavior I don't want? This is one of the most frequent healthy living questions people ask. It shows up over and over among my wellness coaching participants, usually in connection with a specific change the person wants to make.

Like these -

* I want to stop evening snacking.
* I want to get to bed earlier in the evening.
* I want to eat smaller portions when dining with friends.
* I want to choose healthier foods when eating in a restaurant.
* I want to exercise more.

Ready? Here we go with some tips.

Tip #1: Find and resolve conflicts with what you say you want.

I know you want it. Honest. However, I am suggesting that you also want something else that conflicts with it. You'll be more successful when you know what it is.

Examples:

* Comfort from eating foods mom used to serve
* The pleasure of taste
* Rewarding myself for hard work
* Exerting control over one part of my life when it seems everything else is beyond my control
* To be able to do whatever I want with no consequences
* Sympathy for my busy life & hard work

You might call these things side effects of the behavior you want to change. Between you and me, though, there's really no such thing as a side effect. There are only effects. Some of them you want and some you don't. In this case, sometimes your desire for the side effect drives a behavior you really don't want.

Once you distinguish what's really going on, the trick is to find another way to address the desired side effect more directly.

Tip #2: Word your desired behavior in terms of what you do want rather than what you don't.

It's much easier to choose a desired behavior than to not choose something you don't want. Often things come to our attention through the language of what we don't want.

Examples:

* I don't want to eat after dinner.
* I don't want to stay up so late.
* I don't want to feel stuffed after I eat.

The solut! ion in t his case is quite simple. Write down exactly what you don't want, just like I did above. Please don't do this in your head. Writing clarifies exactly what you're going for. Then switch the sentence around to what you do want instead.

Examples:

* I want to finish my last meal or snack by 7:00 pm.
* I want to be in bed by 11:00 pm.
* I want to eat just enough to feel pleasantly satisfied when finished.

Ok, that's two tips. Think them over. Try them out.

We'll have two more tips in Behavior Change Tips For Your Healthy Lifestyle -- Part 2.

The Two Most Important Fitness Principles

There are hundreds, if not thousands of principles that can be used in exercise to produce results, but which ones should be your major centre of focus? Palmarium Fitness focuses on only two primary principles, but do not make the mistake of thinking we neglect all others, it just means that this system revolves around these two principles which are proven to produce results but are far too often neglected in conventional, rules oriented programs.

The two major principles are:

  • Consistency: It’s not what we do once in a while that makes us successful at something, it’s consistency, I mean if you’re good at anything you must be consistent. So how do we apply this principle? Instead of instructing people to train as hard as possible, we like to show people that they can train at a moderate level as long as they’re consistent. What this means is that in order for you to be able to drop the intensity and level of your training/exercise, you need to exercise as regularly as possible, this is made easier by the fact that the training is fairly moderate even for the elite. Another factor that makes it easier is that you will sustain less injury and post exercise soreness and wear and tear due to the methods of training used. Another important thing that makes consistency easier is that your training program can be adapted to suit any sudden lifestyle change, you can train anywhere, anytime due to the nature of our flexible training practices. So by being consistent and this consistency being made easy, you will be making a continuous improvement without any down-time.
  • Progressive Overload: This second principle applies to all fitness programs wherever you go, it even applies to any personal development program, success program or anything else that requires continued improvement. Progressive overload means simply to increase the level of a program slowly and progressively at regular intervals so that improvement is inevitable and consistent. A simple example is adding! small a mounts of weight to a particular lift such as bench press, with these small increments it usually is not really noticed, but over time you will improve. With this in mind, you don’t really need to have all that super high intensity training in your program and with a more moderate level of training it is easier to make these small increments or improvement.
  • So by applying these two core principles of consistency and progressive overload your exercise can be slotted into your life with as little disruption to other areas as possible. This also allows for people of all levels to reach their peak fitness potential using our unique and proven methods, and yes, a peak level of physical fitness is achievable by ANYONE AND EVERYONE, I GUARANTEE IT!!!

Finding a Fitness Facility: How to Simplify the Search

When choosing a gym, one should first ask, ? What equipment and amenities will I actually use?? Sure, there are mega-gyms that offer saunas, massage therapy, a lap pool, and rock climbing, but are all of these things what a person really needs in order to pursue a healthy lifestyle?

In reality, free weights, machines, and cardio equipment are more than adequate to support an effective workout routine. Gyms that are well-equipped, minus the ?fluff,? are almost always the more cost effective choice, not to mention less overwhelming.

It?s easy to feel overwhelmed when first stepping foot in a gym, with all the strange-looking machines and fancy equipment. When choosing a gym, be sure to ask if an orientation (a guided tour on how to properly use the equipment) is available and if it costs extra. Is the orientation in a group setting or is it one-on-one? Finding a gym that provides one-on-one attention along with ongoing monitoring is definitely a big advantage to someone just starting out. Only a few gyms offer such a program at no additional cost, so this is a good way to narrow down your search.

To narrow the choices even more, look for facilities where crowding is not a problem and waiting for machines is a non-issue. In addition, any gym worth joining should deliver locker rooms complete with showers; clean, well-organized equipment; and friendly staff. Some facilities even offer ?comfort? benefits like complimentary coffee and towel service. Details such as these can make a significant difference in your overall workout experience.

Another important point to consider when searching for a gym is if any kind of nutrition education is available. Quality fitness facilities know that exercise is only half the battle; diet is equally important in developing a healthy lifestyle. Several gyms offer education classes on nutrition, but only a few facilities provide nutrition programs online. Mandi Whittlesey, a certified personal trainer at ProActive Fitness Studio in Austi! n, says, ?An online meal planner such as ProActive?s Vitabot is a great way to create a completely balanced diet using all your favorite foods.? Online nutrition is often more cost effective than attending classes, and in today?s computer-prevalent society, the online program is definitely the more convenient way to keep track of one?s diet.

Achieving the New Year?s resolution to get fit starts with finding the best place to do so, and while workout facilities exist in abundance, only a select few meet the criteria listed above. Take the time to shop around, keeping in mind those details that can make a fitness program worthwhile. Personalized service, non-crowding, practical equipment, and online nutrition are valuable services for novices and experts alike, and the good news is, there really are places that offer all of these and more and at a terrific price. The key to this year?s fitness resolution really is just around the corner.

    Lung Cancer Survival Rate

Several factors influence lung cancer survival rates. The type of cancer, the stage it is at when diagnosed, and the overall condition of the patient all play a role in determining survival. Cancer survival is usually expressed in terms of a five-year survival rate, which is the percentage of patients with cancer who survive at least five years after their cancer is diagnosed.

Studies have shown that five-year survival rates among non-small cell lung cancer patients vary by stage. Stage 0 patients have the best survival, of close to 50 percent at five years. Approximately one-quarter of stage II patients survive to five years, as compared to eight percent of stage III patients and only two percent of stage IV patients. In general, small cell lung cancer tends to proceed more rapidly to terminal disease. Ten to fifteen percent of patients with limited-stage small cell lung cancer, and between one and two percent of those with extensive-stage cancer, survive to five years.

Estimates of cancer survival do not reflect current treatment advances that may lead to better chances of survival, because they are typically calculated for a five-year period that does not include the previous year. Further, each patient responds to treatment in a unique way; aggregate estimates do not account for individual factors that may improve or worsen the likelihood of survival.

The overall number of deaths in the United States from lung cancer rose throughout the 1980s, and began to drop for men in the 1990s. However, a similar decrease has not been observed among women. Over fifty thousand current and former smokers have been enrolled in the National Lung Screening Trial to find out if chest x-rays and CT scans taken before the onset of lung cancer symptoms may improve early diagnosis and therefore survival.

Lung Cancer provides detailed information on Asbestos Lung Cancer, Lung Cancer, Lung Cancer Stages, Lung Cancer Survival Rate and more. Lung Cancer is affiliated with Asbestos Exposure.!

    Most Powerful Bodybuilding Tip

If there is one surefire bodybuilding tip that I can share with you, which will skyrocket your muscle building efforts, it is rest.

Now you say rest. Yes, I am saying rest, don't workout. This may be way against the grain of your logical thinking, but according to sound physiology, it is right on. If you want to get bigger, stronger, and more cut; then I am recommending not to workout. Resting is the most powerful muscle building technique you can implement.

First off, your body develops muscle while you are resting, not during your bodybuilding workout sessions. Muscle fibers hypertrophy, or get bigger, and stronger than before, thus, get you ready to lift more weight during the next bout of exercise.

The entire muscle building process begins when you lift your first weight to a level of overload, or momentary muscle failure. You will be unable to move the weight for another repetition. This momentary muscle failure places stress on the muscle and calls upon it to adapt by becoming stronger to overcome similar resistance in the future. Thus, the growth process has been stimulated. Strength training to absolute muscle failure stimulates muscle growth, but doesn't produce muscle by itself.

Now you go home from the gym, and fuel your body to allow for an energy compensation to occur, which gets your body back to the energy level it was prior to your hi intensity training session. When this short step has completed, overcompensation begins. This is where muscle fibers thicken and begin to grow stronger.

The next question you might ask is how long do I rest? You rest long enough to complete this overcompensation process. Not resting long enough is the biggest mistake ninety nine percent of bodybuilding participants make. If you take the more is better approach by coming back before your muscles are fully recuperated, you will short circuit the whole muscle building process and decrease your bodybuilding workout results. Don't make this deadly mistake! Let your body completely! finish growing before you stimulate it again with another bout of resistance overload.

There are a lot of variables that come into play when recommending the exact number of rest days. How hard did you workout? How many sets? How intense was the workout? The higher the intensity, and volume, the more rest days you will require between workouts. The average rest days vary between 3-15 days between workouts.

The best bodybuilding tip I can offer you for figuring out the exact amount of rest you need is by testing it. When I say testing, I am referring to keeping a training log to determine if your strength increases, decreases, or stays the same. If your strength increases, your rest is optimal. If it decreases, you need to take 1-2 or more days off to allow the growth process to complete. If strength stays the same, take another day off before your next bodybuilding workout session.

Your goal should be to become stronger with each subsequent workout. Get into the gym, stimulate growth, and then get the hell out of the gym to go home and grow.

Therefore, rest is the most neglected principle in the bodybuilding universe. Think more is not better. Higher intensity plus optimal rest equals muscle growth.

Please don't make this critical mistake, rest is by far the most important bodybuilding tip I can share with you. Follow it to obtain maximum muscle growth quickly.

The R Factors Your Answer For Getting To The Perfect Body For Fitness And Health

Building a Perfect Body for Body Perfect Fitness and Health Is just Four Factors Away!!! The R Factors!!!!

    What are they?

    Rev up

You must incorporate an on-going Aerobic (with oxygen) exercise program in each of your weekly goals. That means a minimum of 3 times per week, you must work on strengthening and protecting your heart from the risks associated with a sedentary lifestyle. Your heart will thank you for it, when you Rev up your motor and keep in revved for a minimum of 20-30 minutes three times per week in your target heart rate zone. Aerobic (with oxygen) exercise will definitely improve your Body Perfect Fitness and Health as well as make your heart stronger so your whole body can work more efficiently.

Ultimately more oxygen will flow through your body and reduce the risk of depression and anxiety as well as increase your good cholesterol (HDL) and reduce the risk of heart related disease. Think about it!! Lower your risk of heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, heart attack, and just for a little body movement for 30 minutes 3 times per week. Where do I sign up?????

What is your target heart rate you ask?

Well first of all the type of exercise does not matter. You may walk, ride a bike, run, work out on a treadmill, stairclimber, eliptical machine, or any movement that will put you into a aerobic (with oxygen) state.

Getting your heart rate up to and maintaining a range of 65%-80% of your MHR (maximum heart rate) for 20-30 minutes. Keep in mind that your body will not start to burn excess fat and carbohydrates until you hit about the 20 minute mark of that 65%-80% MHR. You body will then kick in and start to gobble up those stores of fat in your body and munch down on them to help you reduce your body fat % and get to a leaner Body Perfect YOU!!!

To calculate your MHR you must first take 220 and subtract your age. That becomes your high end of the threshold of your heart rate.

    An Example:

    I am 43

220-43= ! 177 is m y top end of my heart rate- I basically would be at an exhaustion rate with my heart maintained at 177. Meaning I would not be able to sustain exercise at that high a level for too long and really I would not get any long term Aerobic benefit.

My goal is to keep it between 65%-80% of that 177 maximum for my age:

    177 X 65%=115
    177X 80%=142

So my goal would be to keep my heart rate in the 115-142 range for the best Aerobic conditioning for FAT loss and to keep it in that range for a bare minimum of 20 minutes, because the real benefit kicks in after 20 minutes. So if you can incorporate cardiovascular activity at least 3 times per week for 30 minutes or more you have just completed the first important step in the

R FACTORs for a Perfect Body
    @
    Body Perfect Fitness!!!!

    Resistance

Resistance Training. Moving Weights, lifting something, exerting force on your muscles to produce hypertrophy. Working out!!!! Yes studies have shown that incorporating resistance training into your daily and weekly Perfect Body forYOU Body Perfect Fitness and Health routine, will help support a transformation of your body composition. Meaning you will gain more muscle and reduce the amount of fat % that your body is composed of. A solid resistance training program is essential in the transformation to a leaner more defined body that will work harder for you when you are not working. Studies have shown that a higher % muscle composition body will work at burning more calories per hour while at rest than a body with higher fat percentages. Lean bodies Burn more FAT!!!!!!

    Retrain

How you eat and what you eat!!!! Yes it is very important in the R Factors to incorporate a retraining process of your eating habits. You have to think of your body as a car that needs to be refueled every day. The right type of fuel will determine how your engine runs. Small meals every 3-4 hours that include low glycemic index foods that are low in fat, are good complex carbohydrates and that ! incorpor ate the right type of lean proteins, will provide a well rounded nutritionally sound eating plan that keeps your blood sugar in check throughout the day.

Don't Buy into the fact that you can eat all the FATTY Foods you want as long as they are high in protein and low in carbohydrates. You body does need fat, but it needs the right kinds of fat. The fats that are not saturated and low in trans-fats. Stick to fats like Olive oil and Canola Oil. The fats found in nuts like Almonds are outstanding, because they are low in saturated fats and high in the good fats. The fats that help you raise your HDL and lower your LDL levels in your body to maintain a healthy cholesterol level. When thinking of low glycemic foods think of one other important factor.

GREEN IS GOOD!!!!- Yes the darker the green the better. That means that trying to incorporate Dark green vegetables into every meal is essential. Every meal I incorporate the following great low glycemic veggies:

    Broccoli
    Asparagus
    Spinach
    Green Beans

So try and blend in a salad at lunch with fresh spinach or romaine lettuce. Remember the darker the green the better. These lettuces will provide you more nutritional benefit than iceberg lettuce that is very light in color and contains mostly water.

Have a nice plentiful serving of a dark green vegetable with your evening protein. Every night I have one of the vegetables noted above with every single meal.

Steamed Asparagus or Sauteed spinach in olive oil with garlic and some light low sodium seasonings are outstanding complements to a nice fresh broiled piece of Salmon filet or lean chicken breast, prepared the way you like it.

    Focus on Fiber!!

When thinking of eating a carbohydrate think of fiber and how much that carb has. Are you eating plain white rice or did you opt for brown or wild rice, which is less refined and more natural in terms of adding fiber and being lower on the glycemic index for a carbohydrate. Can you skip the potatoes and just eat ! a larger portion of broccoli or asparagus??

I rarely eat potatoes or plain white rice in my eating plan anymore. I have opted to consume very lean healthy fish or meats along with a highly nutritional and low glycemic index veggies and when I do eat carbohydrates, I make sure that they are as natural an unrefined as they can be and that they support fiber consumption in my diet naturally.

Remember that you need carbohydrates for energy and if you are working the R Factors in the right way you are going to need those important complex and essential carbohydrates for keeping your energy level up and helping refuel your body. Also remember a lot of foods that brag about being Low in fat or having no fat, have tons of BAD carbohyrdates. Look at white flour products like plain white breads and pretzels or as I mentioned already plain white rice and pasta. Unfortunately these refined carbohydrates which do not provide a tremendous amount of the right nutrients, help elevate your insulin levels and blood sugar and help you store FAT!!!

    Re-energize

Your body needs time for Rest and Recovery!!! To complete the R factors you need to allow your body to rejuvenate itself from your Resistance training and also your Aerobic training as well. You can Over-train your body with diminishing returns and as you work out and break down your muscles, you need to provide them adequate time to rest, recover, and rebuild themselves to make a stronger and leaner YOU!! Always allow at least one day of rest between a particular body parts and make sure that if your body is telling you that you are tired, sore or hurting, DO NOT push yourself or force yourself into risking injury!! Listen to your body. Give yourself time to Re-energize and you will complete and support the: R Factors - A Great way to Get Fit @ Body Perfect Fitness!!!!

    Arthritis Can It Be Prevented?

    Overview of Arthritis

Effective help is currently available for people to proactively manage arthritis and enjoy life to the fullest. But the actual prevention of arthritis itself is yet another story.

With rheumatoid arthritis (RA), the membranes or tissues lining the joints become inflamed. There is no known way to prevent any form of this disease, including osteoarthritis, adult-onset arthritis and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. The exact causes of all these conditions are unknown.

It's very important for people who fear they are at risk of rheumatoid arthritis to realize that at this time there are no medications to take or lifestyle modifications to make that can completely prevent this crippling disease. However, by making changes to your weight and diet and engaging in moderate exercise, you may be able to slow or even halt the disease's onset and progress.

But you can only really take the measures needed to control arthritis after it is diagnosed. Until it is known for sure if certain bacteria or viruses trigger the disease, contact with people suffering from it will not change your risk of developing it.

Traditionally, medications and physical therapy have been used to manage the disease. A massive amount of nutrient research has also shown the effect diet and supplements have on the body's healing processes. Lifestyle changes can also make a big difference.

    Causes of the Disease

Joint injuries caused by accidents or overuse increase the occurrence of some types of arthritis. You can also inherit certain genes that may increase your risk. More research is needed to find out how to reduce the disease's onset from these factors.

Some individuals have an inborn tendency to degenerative joint disease because they have changes in the structure of the important protein-building blocks of the articular cartilage which covers the surface of their joints. These seemingly small but significant abnormalities predispose their joints to wear and degeneration! . In oth er cases, joint injuries may contribute to the development of DJD.

No foods have been definitively shown to cause or exacerbate arthritis in most individuals. A variety of diets and hand-me-down information exists about certain foods and arthritis, in particular the night shade plants, but none of it has been proven.

There is a rare form of arthritis called Spure which is caused by allergies to wheat products. Avoiding those will eliminate this disease. Associated features include weight loss, diarrhea and osteoporosis. Consult your health care provider if this is a concern.

There are things you can do to reduce your risk for getting certain types of arthritis or to reduce disability if you already have arthritis.

Overweight and obese people have a higher frequency of arthritis. Excess weight increases risk for developing osteoarthritis in the knees, and possibly in the hips and hands. Women are at special risk. In men, excess weight increases the risk for developing gout. It's important to maintain your recommended weight, especially as you get older.

    Arthritis Prevention Programs

The Center for Disease Control has implemented programs in several states to reduce the onset and consequences of arthritis. The National Arthritis Action Plan: A Public Health Strategy delineates the actions necessary to better understand the arthritis burden in the USA and helps to fully apply known and effective interventions.

This document represents the combined efforts of nearly 90 organizations, such as the Arthritis Foundation, government agencies and many other groups and individuals with an interest in arthritis prevention and control.

The NAAP proposes a nationally coordinated effort for reducing the occurrence of arthritis and its accompanying disability by focusing on these three areas:

    1. Surveillance, epidemiology and prevention research to strengthen the science base.

    2. Communications and education to increase awareness and provide accurate informatio! n about arthritis.

    3. Programs, policies, and systems promoting increased quality of life for people with arthritis and facilitating arthritis prevention measures.

The CDC continues to accumulate scientific knowledge on the benefits of physical activity. Because healthy eating reduces a person's risk of becoming overweight, good nutrition plays an important role in preventing knee osteoarthritis. In addition, moderate physical activity is essential for maintaining the health of joints.
